Skiddaw Little Man from the cottage window
Dodd with Skiddaw beyond.
From the cottage window. Dodd being the nearer, low one, without snow. Skiddaw summit is the farthest one at left. It appears lower due to being further away and our line of sight. See our walk up Dodd later in this portfolio.
Thornthwaite : Skiddaw from the cottage window
ref: 160523-(6329-34) : HDR from 5 exposures

Lothwaite below. A picture taken to show the relationship between these landscape features.
[see walk on Lord's Seat later in this portfolio]
Whinlatter Forest : The Sheepfold In The Fold
A legacy from a time before there were trees. The path ran through it. Unfortunately the bridges to it were washed away in 2015 and have not been replaced. Instead a new path has been laid on this side of the beck. (see panorama)
The KHM team penned in the forest.
The sheepfold in the forest passed on the ascent from Thornthwaite to the Bob's Seat viewpoint. [Frank, Becky, Kim, Ben]
On Walla Crag
Walla Crag : across Derwent Water to the North Western Fells
A photomerge of 4 HDR images each from 5 bracketed exposures.
Classic postcard view : Skiddaw at right
From unnamed top en route from Walla Crag to Bleaberry Fell, although we turned back from here.
A photomerge of 11 images.
En Route to Grisedale Pike
End of the road. Mountain bike trail leads up to left. We go straight on 100yds to the open fell.
From the fell gate to the Sleet How cairn.
From the fell gate to the Sleet How cairn
This short ascent from the fell gate to the ridge is by far the steepest part of the ascent. Not that we dogs are bothered by it. Proof that four legs better?
[for the view from Sleet How see North Western Fells]
On the flat bit from Sleet How to the start of the summit climb.
Set On Stick
Grisedale Pike : the start of the steep ascent
Grisedale Pike : the summit all to ourselves
[not surprising as it was so windy HE could hardly stand!]

Cassie leads the way off. Skiddaw ahead.
View from the top : Skiddaw and Keswick
Whinlatter Forest below. The obvious 'X' of crossed paths being the location of Bob's Seat (see Trampas at Bob's Seat later).
